Are you looking to escape into a lush, enchanted forest? If your answer is yes, then a trip to see the Redwoods in Northern California must be on your list.
This area is very unique with National and State Parks. We drove up on a Friday night and spent the weekend exploring and these ancient trees.
Where to stay: To be honest, there are not a whole lot of options. We chose to stay in this AirBNB in Orick. It was a dream waking up to horses right outside your bedroom window.
Below is a list of some amazing stops to see when visiting the California Redwoods State Park:
- Big Tree – We hiked the Prairie Creek Trail to Big Tree. If the road is open you can take a shorter hike to Big Tree via the circle trail.
- Lady Bird Johnson trail. This is a very easy 1.5 mile loop trail. Perfect for the little ones.
- Fern Canyon. I mean Jurassic Park shot a clip here! How could you skip this one?!
- Tree’s of Mystery. Such a cool experience walking amongst the tall Redwoods.
- Jedediah State Park – Check out the Grove of the Titans & Stout Grove to see 2,000 year old trees!
- Avenue of the Giants. A dreamy drive through the redwood tree’s. Its 32 miles with stops along the way. Don’t forget your Map on the start of the drive.
