If you are planning a trip to Chiapas Mexico Cascada El Aguacero Waterfall is one you cant miss. This wild waterfall may not be as famous as Agua Azul or El Chiflon, however it deserves its own post just for that reason!
How to get to Cascada El Aguacero:
Cascada El Aguacero is about 35 miles from Tuxtla Gutierrez and for that reason I suggest making this one of your 1st stops in Chiapas as you most likely will fly in from the Tuxtla airport.
The best way to reach the waterfall is by car and is fairly easy to reach. You will take Mexico internacional 190 and follow until your exit off the paved road. To reach the falls you will be driving on a bumpy dirt road along a cliff edge so please drive carefully.
You may choose to visit by bus & colectivo – Just ask for El Aquacero. You will be dropped off at the gravel entrance and we saw tuk tuk’s waiting to take visitors down.
Make sure you bring cash! Entrance dee was $50 pesos per person and you will find a parking lot but you must pay before you entere.
Hours – 9am-5pm
The hike down:

Are you ready for the trek down to the falls? You will be hiking down 750 steps! Just remember what goes down.. goes back up.
Make sure you use the restroom before trekking down as there are no bathrooms at the falls. The restroom will most likely charge $5 pesos.
Tip. Make sure you wear good sandals as you may choose to walk along or in the river and there may be sharp rocks, Here are the pair I wore.

Are you ready to explore?
This waterfall has stunning rocks and a series of cascades with both wispy trickles and roaring downpours you can go under. I loved hanging right under the falls, but note I was soaked!
On hot hot day the water is so refreshing!

This is such a magical place to visit, with huge canyons, rushing falls and the perfect river to hang out, I hope I convinced you to add this place to your Chiapas itenerary!
xoxo
