The main reason I wanted to Leavenworth was to get that magical Christmas feeling. Seeing hundreds of photos of those place, I was dreaming of enchanting Christmas lights, Reindeer, Sleighrides and snowy mountains. The little town of Leavenworth was the perfect hallmark Christmas town and I would give it a 5 star trip!
How to get there:
We flew into SeaTac. The drive is about 2 hours. Plan ahead with weather as you will be driving though the mountains and if you plan on going in winter it will be likely snow will be on the ground.
Where to stay:
Now… again this is a plan ahead Leavenworth is a small town and in order to stay right in the center of the town you need to book early.
bavarian-lodge If you want to be right in the center of the Front St park this is your place!
Blue Elk Inn This is where we ended up staying. I loved the rooms ( There was even a fire place in room) The amenities however were lacking.
Post Hotel Leavenworth You know that feeling when you walk by a resort and wish you booked? Ya this was the place for me. This would only be a good spot if you are not traveling with kids as its an adults only.
Now for the fun!
Front St Park
This is where you can find those magical Christmas lights on all the buildings. There are so many cute shops and fun places to eat. Here were a few of my favorites:
- Rhein Hous – Try a pretzel!
- The Ginger Bread Factory
- The Nutcracker Muesum
Blackbird Island
Remember that gorgeous hotel I was telling you about? Well it overlooks this breathtaking place. Take a stroll with a cup of hot coco or Apple Cider and dont forget your camera!
Leavenworth Reindeer Farm
Another place that we visited while staying in Leavenworth was the Leavenworth Reindeer Farm. It was definitely a tourist trap but how can you pass up hanging out with Reindeer? You can book tickets HERE
Eagle Creek Ranch
Now I cannot say enough good things about this experience. I promise this is not a paid post … Due to covid we got our own private ride. This place was beautiful. They take you through the old route that wagons used back when people began settling in Leavenworth. The 15 minute drive from the town is so pretty! You can check them out HERE
Overall this trip was a magical trip. There are many hikes and places to sled and enjoy the mountains. We are not skiers but there was a resort on the drive to Leavenworth you can check out.
