Just a quick beautiful drive from the San Francisco area lies the best surfer town I know Santa Cruz. It may shock you that this mountain beach town has more to offer than the famous Beach boardwalk ( but dont worry this is one the list!!
In this post I am going to share with you all the places we stopped on our weekend getaway to Santa Cruz.
Pogonip Park – Hidden away in the middle of the town is Pogonip Park. Dating back to 1854 the Pogonip kilns were used to make limestones. If you follow the spring box trail and a little adventure off the beaten path you can find these old kilns along with a hidden Koi fish pond. Its truly magic to find the little pond in the middle of the Henry Cowell State Park.
After your relaxing stroll though Pogonip you may have worked up an appetite! Your next stop will be to downtown Santa Cruz. There are several dining spots. We choose to eat at Abbots Square Market as there are several little spots inside so everyone can grab what they are craving. On the weekends you can even sit outside on the patio with a glass of wine and listen to live music.
the penny icecreamery Now after you fill up on dinner at Abbots square market the next up on my essential list is Penny Ice creamery. You can thank me later when you get a scoop of Chai with a toasted marshmallow on top!
